DESCRIPTION

Equites seeks to employ a Group Reporting Manager capable of performing detailed reporting, financial, analytical, and tax-related tasks, who will join a dynamic finance team and assist in executing reporting and financial monitoring duties. The ideal candidate will work with senior management to develop, improve, and maintain the financial objectives of the company. The position offers long-term growth opportunities and incentives.

Equites Property Fund Limited is a South African real estate investment trust, with a definite focus on being a market leader in the logistics property market by developing and acquiring A-grade, modern logistics facilities in prime locations in South Africa and the United Kingdom. Equites listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange on 18 June 2014 with a portfolio value of R1 billion and has since grown to a portfolio value of R25.7 billion at 28 February 2022. The group continues to grow its portfolio through a significant development pipeline and high-quality acquisitions. Equites is SA's only and largest listed, exclusively logistics-focused REIT on the JSE providing shareholders with pure exposure to prime logistics assets.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite (SharePoint, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to generate clear, well-presented, and accurate reports
  • Exceptional administrative skills, organisational abilities, with attention to detail
  • Assist the finance team in performing tasks more effectively and efficiently
  • Add value to the company’s internal control systems
  • Have a willingness to research and implement solutions

  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment, and display a high degree of professional ethics

Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • Newly qualified CA or equivalent with a finance accounting qualification

Preferred

  • Previous experience is not required but it is preferred

RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting

  • Annual/interim – preparation of annual and interim financial statements
    • Ensuring compliance with JSE listing requirements
    • Provide input into results presentation and commentary
    • Manage the reporting process
  • Integrated report – manage the entire process and draft various reports
    • Research best practices and provide recommendations for improvements annually
    • Liaison with various parties related to the publishing process
  • Assist with queries from analysts, equity houses, investors post results release
  • Statutory companies – prepare AFS on Caseware for subsidiary companies, as well as manage third-party AFS preparation

Property valuations

  • Apply financial modelling techniques (DCFs) to value our property portfolio in SA and UK
  • Manage the external valuation process
  • Keep abreast of market trends and apply these to the valuations as applicable

IFRS

  • Perform/review complex IFRS calculations for the AFS (such as IFRS16, IAS23, IFRS9, and IAS7)
  • Perform IFRS assessments and write IFRS memos on complex accounting issues, new ventures and projects

Monthly reporting

  • Draft and manage monthly management reports
  • Analyse actual vs budgets
  • Monitor forecasts

Tax

  • Research tax implications of prospective deals
  • Research tax efficiency measures of current operations
  • Keep abreast of changes in SA and UK tax laws
  • Manage relationships with tax experts in SA and the UK
  • Monitor REIT status

Audits

  • Liaise with external auditors and play an active role in the audit process
  • Work with internal audit to design, implement and monitor financial controls across the business
