Role Purpose and Impact

The Sustainability Department is entering a phase of growth as we expand our renewable energy, water stewardship, resource efficiency and social upliftment initiatives across the portfolio.

The successful candidate will join a small, high-performing team responsible for scoping and monitoring these initiatives, developing analytical insights to support strategic business decisions, expanding private electricity trading initiatives, and improving operational efficiency through automation and data analytics. 

This is a suitable opportunity for a professional who is highly analytical, has exceptionally high attention to detail, takes ownership of their work, and is equally comfortable working with numbers and people. This role offers increasing responsibility over time, broadening both technical and commercial expertise, and contributing directly to long-term value creation. 

Experience & Qualifications

  • A degree in Computer Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Finance, Econometrics or a related discipline with a strong quantitative focus 
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in a similar role 
  • Working knowledge of Python for automation, scripting and data analysis 
  • API integrations 
  • Advanced MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills, with strong data visualisation capability 
  • Demonstrated experience analysing complex datasets and producing accurate, well-presented reports 
  • Strong organisational and project coordination skills, with the ability to work under pressure 
  • A proactive, adaptable approach, with initiative and sound judgement to research and implement solutions within a policy framework 
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, commitment and professional ethics  

Advantageous

  • SQL Experience 
  • Experience within the quants, property, utilities, engineering or renewable energy sectors 
  • Working knowledge of Artificial Intelligence tools and a demonstrated ability to apply them to improve productivity and business processes         

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong problem-solving ability and good interpersonal skills, with a preference for collaborative, team-based work 
  • Sound judgement in applying responsibilities within an established policy framework

Key Responsibilities

Data Modelling and Decision Support: 

  • Analyse datasets across energy, water and social metrics to identify trends, risks and opportunities 
  • Validate and interpret data from multiple internal and external sources, ensuring accuracy and integrity throughout 
  • Prepare financial and operational analyses to support investment and business decisions 
  • Produce clear, well-presented reports, graphs, visualisations and presentations reflecting usage and trends 
  • Maintain and improve existing analytical models, dashboards and reporting tools 

Process Improvement and Automation: 

  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and reduce manual processes 
  • Develop Python scripts and web scrapers to automate repetitive data collection and reporting tasks 
  • Uphold the quality and governance of sustainability data across all systems and tools 

Sustainability Reporting: 

  • Support the preparation of the Sustainability Report, Integrated Annual Report and related stakeholder presentations, including input into presentation and commentary 
  • Research sustainability best practice annually and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Liaise with internal and external parties in preparing these reports and responding to related queries from other departments

Project Delivery:

  • Support the implementation of renewable energy, battery storage and water resilience projects
  • Monitor project performance and prepare progress reports
  • Coordinate with consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders, and assist with project planning and documentation
